Internships

AST is looking for actuarial interns who embody our core values of strong service, work, and team ethics. As an intern, you will be a part of a collaborative team that brings out the best in each other to deliver innovative results and solutions to our clients. Our interns don't just learn data processes. They work on real projects, interact directly with clients, learn the business of health consulting, and develop practical skills that can be applied to any actuarial career path.

Throughout your internship, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of assignments and projects that support the work our analysts do on a daily basis. Although day-to-day tasks will vary depending on our clients' needs, some of the projects you may work on include:

building databases
generating block experience reports
calculating reserves
producing renewal quotes

Our 10-15 week internship program allows actuarial students to gain exposure to multiple areas of actuarial practice while building technical skills in Excel, SQL, and Access by using as well as designing tools for quoting, reserving, renewals, and analysis.

Throughout the internship experience, interns will continually have the opportunity to collaborate with supervisors and mentors who provide guidance and support as you complete trainings, perform tasks and projects with increasing autonomy, and develop a deep understanding of a health consulting envirornment that is committed to producing excellent analysis and exceeding client expectations.

Qualifications:

outstanding quantitative and analytical skills
excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
intellectual curiosity and an interest in solving complex, mathematically-oriented problems
ability to work in a collaborative team environment
one exam preferred but not required
